Lanfranco Bombelli Tiravanti (Milano 1921 – Cadaqués 2008) studied Architecture in his hometown and Zurich. There, he was part of the pioneers of concrete art with the Allianz group. He worked alongside artists like Bruno Munari, Max Huber, and Lohse. His art of geometric compositions is based on minimal plastic means and inspired by mathematical principles. From 1950, he began working in Paris with Peter Harnden as an architect of commercial pavilions for the American government.
At the beginning of the 60s, he chose Barcelona and Cadaqués as his headquarters. From there, he directed his architecture workshop and carried out numerous private projects in Cadaqués. This house is one of them. It stands out for its austerity and functionality.
As the founder of the Cadaqués Gallery, Bombelli brought international avant-garde works to Spain for the first time. He exhibited artists such as Max Bill, Marcel Duchamp, Jasper Johns, or Richard Hamilton. Additionally, he was a pioneer in exhibiting photography, featuring authors like Man Ray or Robert Capa. He also showcased architecture by Mies van der Rohe or Isozaki, as well as modern design.
